Two Minnesota Men to Run 100 Miles to Make College Admission Possible

Patrick O’Shaughnessy and Scott Penticoff have set a goal neither of these experienced runners would have imagined just a year ago:  run 100 miles through the Himalayan Mountains of India for five days straight!  The two Minnesota natives are hoping to inspire low-income high school students to dream big and set high goals – goals to get into college!

Patrick and Scott are encouraging individuals to make a pledge  or donation to Admission Possible in support of this 100-mile journey for promising low-income high school students.

“For many low-income students, the chance of going to college feels just about as conceivable as the prospect of running 100 miles through the Himalayas,” said O’Shaughnessy.  “Admission Possible is showing young people that this doesn’t have to be the case and are making a life-changing impact on the students they help and the community in which we all live.”

“A college education is the key to unlocking the ‘American Dream,’ the concept that truly anything is possible if you just work hard enough,” said Penticoff.  “When that dream remains so seemingly unattainable for a specific portion of our society, we all lose.  We lose the potential of our future leaders and we miss the chance to do our part in preparing the way for those of coming generations.”

The five-day running stage race through the Himalayas, including up Mt. Everest, will take place November 3-7, 2008.
